Taking advantage of a lack of serious competition, Hungary’s Katinka Hosszu managed to win four times on day one of the FFN Golden Tour Stop in Nice today.  The long course meter meet held all of the distance and the bulk of the sprint events on day one.

Hosszu won the women’s 800-meter free in 8:39.89 to start the day as she’s looking for some easy money here in Nice with a truckload of events.  Lara Grangeon placed second in 8:49.65 with Alizee Morel earning third in 8:50.37.

Damien Joly topped the men’s 800-meter free in 7:56.78.  Joris Bouchaut finished second in 8:02.28 with Paul Barascud taking third in 8:09.00.

In a surprising scheduling quirk, meet organizers held the 1500s immediately after the 800s with Hosszu collecting the women’s 1500-meter free prize in 16:55.85.  Celia Heurtaux (17:55.93) and Lea D’Agostino (18:05.06) finished second and third.

Joly also doubled up with a 15:20.54 to win the men’s 1500-meter free.  Bouchaut (15:22.81) and David Lakatos (15:39.97) claimed second and third.

Hosszu went 3-for-3 in the distance session with a 4:39.86 to win the women’s 400-meter IM.  Evelyn Verraszto (4:47.89) and Cyrielle Duhamel (4:53.64) took second and third.

David Verraszto hit the wall in 4:18.18 to win the men’s 400-meter IM to close out the distance session.  Philip Heintz (4:20.51) and Raphael Stacchiotti (4:25.12) snagged second and third.

Following a short break, Hosszu returned in the sprint session today with a 28.52 to win the women’s 50-meter back.  Theodora Drakou (28.68) and Mathilde Cini (28.86) closed out the top three.

Camille Lacourt chased down the men’s 50-meter back with a time of 25.29.  Ben Stasiulis (25.74) and Andreas Vazaios (26.04) finished second and third.

Hosszu wound up seventh in the women’s 50-meter breast with a time of 34.26.  Charlotte Bonnet (32.16), Adeline Williams (32.41) and Fanny Deberghes (32.68) comprised the podium in the event.

Samilidis Panagiotis won the men’s 50-meter breast in 28.27.  Giacomo Perez Dortona took a close second in 28.29 with Marco Koch placing third in 28.32.

Hosszu took 15th in the women’s 50-meter fly after qualifying ninth out of prelims.  She clocked a 28.91 in the B final.  Melanie Henique won in 26.18 with Katerine Savard placing second in 26.46.  Anna Santamans earned third in 26.68.

Florent Manaudou closed out the day with a 23.44 to win the men’s 50-meter fly.  Fred Bousquet picked up second in 23.94 with Mehdy Metella earning third in 24.18.
