Katie Ledecky, Simone Manuel Headline USA Swimming’s 2013-14 Scholastic All-America Selections
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado, September 6. USA Swimming National Team members Katie Ledecky (Bethesda, Md.) and Simone Manuel (Sugar Land, Texas) headline a list of nearly 1,800 prep swimmers honored by USA Swimming this week as 2013-14 Scholastic All-America selections.
By virtue of their 4.0 grade point averages and national championship wins at last month’s USA Swimming Phillips 66 National Championships, Ledecky and Manuel received the only two perfect scores among the 1,782 swimmers honored this year.
The Southern Zone led the way with 515 Scholastic All-America selections. North Carolina Swimming was the top LSC with 102 honorees, while SwimMAC Carolina topped the club rankings with 37 swimmers appointed to the SAA roster.
Visit usaswimming.org for a complete breakdown of the 2013-14 USA Swimming Scholastic All-America Team. The application for the 2014-15 team will be available June 1, 2015.
In order to be considered for the Scholastic All-America Team, swimmers must maintain a 3.5 GPA for the current academic year and swim a time equal to a 2011 Junior Nationals bonus time in any event during the qualification period. High school sophomores, juniors and seniors are eligible for inclusion.
