(Video Interview) Katie Ledecky Discusses Return to Omaha, New Events, Zika and More in Pre-Trials Press Conference
Editorial Coverage provided by
Two days before getting her second Olympic Trials underway, Katie Ledecky spoke to the media at the CenturyLink Center. Ledecky, who won gold medals in the 200, 400, 800 and 1500 free at last year’s World Championships—as well as the 800 free relay—is also entered in the 400 IM, 100 free and 50 free this week in Omaha.
Ledecky addressed how her mindset regarding Olympic Trials has changed in the years since she made the team as a 15-year-old and went on to stun Great Britain’s Rebecca Adlington to win gold in the 800 free in London. Ledecky also discussed whether or not she will swim all of the “new” events she entered and addressed some of the big issues facing the U.S. team right now—including the Zika virus and allegations of systematic doping abroad.
