Katie Ledecky Details Daily Eating Habits to Women’s Health

Dietary habits can be crucial to the success of swimmers, especially at the elite level. Katie Ledecky detailed her daily eating habits to Women’s Health Magazine.

“My food philosophy has always been to eat healthy and to treat my body right,” Ledecky told Women’s Health. “I know that my body is what gets me from one end of the pool to the other.”

The article details what Ledecky eats throughout a 24-hour period to give her body enough calories and nutrients to be able to handle her extremely high work load, but also eating healthy enough that her body uses all it needs, no more, no less. It is not an exact science and takes a lot of work. It is broken down into her breakfast, lunch and dinner routines, plus how she handles between meals and dessert.

It has obviously worked well for Ledecky, who won four medals at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, including two gold medals.

Following the Olympics, Ledecky left her training base at Stanford University and relocated to Gainesville to train under coach Anthony Nesty with Gators Bobby Finke and Kieran Smith, both Olympic medalists for the U.S. men in Tokyo. She also became as a volunteer assistant coach for the Gators. Ledecky has a history of thriving while training with men, and the presence of Finke and Smith as well as Nesty’s accomplishments as an Olympic coach and as a college coach were huge draws in bringing her to the University of Florida.
