Katie Ledecky Dazzles in Day Three Prelims of IU Bucceto Open
Katie Ledecky continued to shine in prelims of day three of the IU Bucceto Open posting a 1:58.43 in the 200-meter free to secure the first-place seed coming back in tonight’s finals. Mallory Comerford turned in a 2:03.88 to grab second, while Claire Adams finished with a 2:04.49 for third.
Trevor Carroll leads the men’s 200-meter free going into tonight’s finals with a 1:53.16. Gregory Tarasevich claimed the second-place seed with a 1:55.46, and Blake Pieroni rounds out the top three with a 1:55.54.
Lauren Edelman secured the first-place seed in the women’s 200-meter breaststroke with a 2:38.68. Emily Weiss (2:42.42) and Lucy Kramer (2:42.78) round out the top three.
Dexter Thomas grabbed the first-place seed in the men’s 200-meter breaststroke with a 2:22.80. Todd Owen is currently seeded second with a 2:26.37, while Chandler Bray holds the third-place seed with a 2:26.96.
Kelsi Worrell turned in a 25.12 to claim the first-place seed in the women’s 50-meter free, and a lead of .93 seconds over the competition. Catherine Mulquin holds the second-place seed with a 26.05, while Veronica Burchill rounds out the top three wit ha 26.59.
Ledecky dazzled in the women’s 400-meter IM claiming the first-place seed with a time of 4:47.10. Lauren Edelman returns tonight as the second-place seed after posting a 4:53.95 this morning, while Isabella Rongione rounds out the top three with a 4:55.17.
Andrew Gemmell dominated the men’s 400-meter IM securing his first-place seed with a 4:31.48, 7.86 seconds ahead of the competition. Matthew Hirschberger claimed the second-place seed with a time of 4:39.34, a 4.68 second drop from his entry time of 4:44.02. Zach Harting rounds out the top three with a 4:40.13.
