During the Sunday Night Football game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Las Vegas Raiders, fans took a quick break from cheering for football to cheer for swimming.

Las Vegas native and Olympic swimmer Katie Grimes, who swims for the Sandpipers of Nevada swim club in Las Vegas, was honored during a break in the action on national TV.

The scoreboard showed some of her career highlights, including qualifying for the Olympic team in 2021. Grimes was on hand and gave a wave to the crowd that robustly cheered on their hometown hero.

Katie Grimes is coming off of an impressive World Championships where she claimed medals both in the pool and in open water.

She won a bronze medal in the 10K open water swim, which automatically qualified her for the 2024 Paris Olympics in the event.

In the pool, she won a silver medal in the 400 IM. She finished in 4:31.41, surpassing her best time from April by four tenths, in a time close to an American record.

Sandpipers has been one of the biggest clubs on the rise the past few years and has seen multiple Olympians come from the club, including Grimes, Bella Sims and Erica Sullivan, while Claire Weintstein has qualified for the World Championships.

Katie Grimes gave Raiders fans something to cheer about in a night that ended up in a tough loss to the Steelers.

It was a very cool gesture from her hometown team.
