SwimMAC Carolina’s Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Kathy McKee has rejoined the club as Associate Head Coach, a newly created position. Coach McKee will be the competitive team leader located at SwimMAC’s north location based in Huntersville, N.C., where she’ll be responsible for overseeing and managing the club’s north coaching staff and site relationships. She is highly respected in USA Swimming’s Local Swim Committees as well as in the American Swimming Coaches Association.

“With the return of Coach Kathy McKee, SwimMAC Carolina is reasserting our continuing commitment to swimming excellence as well as the development of great young people,” said Terry Fritch, Head Coach of SwimMAC Carolina.

Coach McKee was initially hired in 1994 by SwimMAC’s then Head Coach Pat Hogan to develop the club’s first north site at Davidson College. During her tenure, the north site membership grew and she enjoyed the support of staff and swim families. In more than a decade with SwimMAC, Coach McKee guided pre-competitive swimmers all the way up to national level, including multiple swimmers named to the USA National Junior Team. She was awarded the opportunity to serve as coach for the 2007 National Junior Team that traveled to Australia to compete.

After leaving SwimMAC in 2012, Coach McKee moved back to Chapel Hill to coach at the North Carolina Aquatic Club.  While there, she coached swimmers to numerous team and state records, including one National Junior team member, and was honored as the North Carolina Swimming Age Group Coach of the Year in 2014.

“We are thrilled to welcome back a coach who is as accomplished and well-respected as Kathy McKee,” said Matt McFee, President of SwimMAC’s Board of Directors. “She has an incredible track record with the club and an understanding of the commitment made by our swimmers and their families.”

“I am very excited to return to one of the most successful organizations in swimming. I look forward to working with the coaches, swimmers and families of SwimMAC and I want to thank Coach Terry Fritch for the opportunity to once again be part of the SwimMAC family.  I can’t wait to get started!”

Coach McKee will be on site at SwimMAC in Huntersville in late April. In addition to her organizational responsibilities, she’ll also be coaching Shark 1, our top 13-14 group.
