Kate Moore to Join Sister at NC State with Verbal Commitment
Kate Moore has announced her verbal commitment to NC State University, via Twitter.
Moore currently swims for the Marlins of Raleigh and is a rising senior at Green Hope High School in Cary, NC. She swam the 200 backstroke at Olympic Trials.
Her best short course yards events are the 100 and 200 backstrokes. In the 100 backstroke Moore has swum a 53.99, good for a summer Juniors cut. Moore’s best 200 is a 1:57.07, swum in December.
She is also a Winter Juniors qualifier in the 200 and 400 IM. Her best 200 is a 2:02.63 while her 400 is a 4:16.28.
At the 2016 ACC Championships, the Wolfpack finished second, over 100 points behind the University of Virginia and almost 100 points ahead of in-state rival UNC. At this year’s conference championship, Moore would have finished 15th in the 100 backstroke and 14th in the 200 backstroke. In the 200 IM she would have finished just shy of the scoring C final, while her 400 also would have been a B final swim.
At the 2016 NCHSAA 4A Championships, Moore led the Green Hope team to a second place finish. She led off the school’s runner up 200 medley relay and touched fourth in the 200 IM. The then junior was also second in the 100 backstroke and the 400 freestyle relay.
Moore will travel just down the road to join her sister Hannah who transferred to NC State in the 2015-2016 season.
So happy to announce my verbal commitment to swim for NC State! Much love to everyone who got me here❤️🐺 #gopack pic.twitter.com/puhqYT3Q1L
