Men’s 200 Butterfly

Queens sophomore Marius Kusch swam to the second NCAA record we’ve seen tonight, blasting a 1:42.04 to take down Matthew Josa’s 2015 record of 1:42.96. Kusch was out fast in 22.26 and didn’t look back, leading at every wall to break the record by nearly a second.

UCSD senior Gabriel Hernandez was almost 3 seconds back in 2nd in 1:44.80, while Fresno Pacific freshman Aleksei Averchenko was 3rd in 1:44.86.

41st-fastest performer all- time and faster than the pr for the guy who won 400 IM gold London five years ago.

See if he makes Germany’s World Championships team this summer.

For that matter see if the guy who held the record makes the U.S. team for Budapest in this or any other event.

Stay tuned.
