Karolina Bank Sweeps Breaststroke Events as Missouri Women Top Arkansas
The Missouri women’s team scored a 49-point victory over Arkansas in the Tigers’ first intercollegiate competition of the season, with a final margin of 174-125.
Missouri’s Karolina Bank won both breaststroke events, clocking 1:00.41 in the 100 and 2:13.45 in the 200, and she swam the second leg of the Tigers’ winning 200 medley relay, combining with Sydney Bales, Grace Hanson and Francesca Smith to win in 1:38.43.
Katie Gresik won the 1000 freestyle in 9:55.32, and teammate Zara Zallen topped the 200 free in 1:46.94. Bales came through in the 100 backstroke(54.36), and Taylor Williams swam a time of 1:59.09 to win the 200 butterfly.
After the first diving break, Abbey Taute topped the 200 back by three seconds (1:56.93), and Hanson won the 100 fly (54.21). Zallen, Smith, Sierra Smith and Hanson swam a time of 3:18.98 to win the 400 free relay.
Arkansas’ Bella Cothern took wins in the 50 free (22.56) and 100 free (49.42), with the Razorbacks’ Maria Jose Sanchez winning 3-meter diving (339.50). Reka Rohacs secured the win in the 500 free (4:51.26), and Lotti Hubert secured first in 1-meter diving (307.75). Holly Robinson won the last individual race of the day for Arkansas in 4:18.02.
