Kansas Launches 2022 Recruiting Push With Verbal From Lydia Lafferty of American Energy Swim Club
NEW COMMIT: The University of Kansas has officially entered the 2022 recruiting game after receiving a verbal commitment from Futures qualifier Lydia Lafferty of Watonga, Okla.
She will suit up for the Jayhawks as a member of the Class of 2026.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I’m thrilled to announce my verbal commitment to study and swim at the University of Kansas!!! Huge thank you to my family, friends, and coaches for supporting me along the way!! Can’t wait to be a Jayhawk!! Rock chalk ?❤️”
Lafferty, who does her club swimming with American Energy Swim Club, recorded four top-10 finishes at the Oklahoma State SCY Championships in February. In Summer 2019, she finaled in two events at Jenks Sectionals before going on to race three events at Des Moines Futures.
Her best times include:
- 50 fly – 24.98
- 100 fly – 54.85
- 200 IM – 2:08.97
- 50 free – 24.19
- 100 free – 53.09
Under head coach Clark Campbell, the Jayhawks finished second at the 2020 Big 12 Championships. Kansas is bringing in an impressive recruiting class next season that includes Eleni Kotzamanis, Lezli Sisung, Addi Barnes, Brigid Gwidt, Claire Hyatt, Elliott Howe and Karla Lessing.
