NEW COMMIT: Carmel, Ind. native and current high school junior Taylor Conley has verbally committed to the University of Kansas as a member of the class of 2024.

Primarily a backstroker, Conley swims year-round with Carmel Swim Club and owns a pair of Winter Juniors standards. She most recently achieved 100% best times at Indianapolis Speedo Sectionals where her highest finish was an 18th-place showing in the 100m back. She raced both backstroke events at Juniors East in December and placed 16th in the 100m back at Indiana LCM Seniors this past summer.

Also competing for Carmel High School, Conley is a three-time Indiana State Championship finalist and recently helped her team earn their 33rd-straight title. The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American finished seventh in the 100 back as a junior after placing sixth in that event during her sophomore season.

She told Swimming World:

“I’m proud to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Kansas! Huge thank you to my family, friends and coaches for all their support. Can’t wait to be a Jayhawk! Rock Chalk”

Her best times include:

  • 50 back – 26.75
  • 100 back – 55.21
  • 200 back – 2:00.94
  • 200 IM – 2:08.13

Conley will add valuable backstroke depth when she suits up for the Jayhawks in the fall of 2020. She would’ve scored in the A-final of the 100 back and B-final of the 200 back at the 2019 Big 12 Championships where Kansas finished second overall in the team standings.

She will also join Brooke Dalbey, Ellie Wehrmann and Emma Walker in Lawrence next fall.
