Backstroker Kandice Chandra of Elevation Athletics Commits to Binghamton
NEW COMMIT: Binghamton University has received a new commitment for the upcoming 2020-21 season and beyond from Kandice Chandra of Broomfield, Colo.
Primarily a backstroker and IMer, Chandra does her club swimming with Elevation Athletics and earned four personal best times at Mound Hood Sectionals this past summer. Last short course season, she achieved a trio of lifetime bests at Colorado Seniors before going on to have a strong showing at Phoenix Sectionals. Also competing for Legacy High School, Chandra has competed at the Colorado 5A State Championships during both her sophomore and junior seasons.
She told Swimming World:
“I’m happy and grateful to announce that I will be continuing my academic and athletic career at Binghamton University! Thank you to everyone who has supported me, it has meant the world. Go bearcats!”
Her best times include:
- 100 back – 58.37
- 200 back – 2:05.47
- 100 fly – 58.33
- 400 IM – 4:38.97
Chandra will add valuable depth to the Bearcats’ lineup when she arrives on campus as a member of the class of 2024. She would’ve scored in the A-final of the 200 back as well as the B-final of the 100 back and 400 IM at the 2019 America East Championships where Binghamton finished fifth overall in the team standings.
