Kalvin Hahn, Wes Tate Pace Army Sweep of Boston College
Kalvin Hahn, Wes Tate and Daniel Verdolaga won two individual races each as Army swept Boston College on Friday.
The Black Knights’ men’s team dominated to the tune of a 216-84 margin. The women claimed a 182-116 decision.
Hahn swept the breaststroke events, going 55.52 in the 100 and 1:57.89 to edge teammate Kohen Rankin in the 200. Tate went 1:37.73 to edge teammate Johnny Crush by .11 in the 200 free, then got the better of 1,000 free winner Brice Barrieault in the 500 free. Verdolaga won the 100 fly and the 200 individual medley.
Crush came back to win the 200 backstroke ahead of Zac Leith, also the runner-up to Alex Edwards in the 100 back. Army swept the top four spots in the 50 free, Owen Harlow’s 20.59 leading Rankin and Thomas Hadji, who won the 100 free in 44.71. Jack Pogue won the 200 fly and was second in the 100 fly. David Manelis won 3-meter diving.
AJ Rosenberger won 1-meter diving with a score of 282.60 for BC. Jack Doyle was second in the 200 fly and 200 IM.
On the women’s side, Catriona Gilmore paced a deep performance from Army with a breaststroke sweep. Clara Williams, Molly Webber and Jenna Hart won the first three individual events before Gilmore claimed the 100 breast. Angie McKane won the 50 free, Sydney Braeger and Hart went 1-2 in the 100 fly and Meghan Cole got to the wall first in the 200 IM.
Boston College stuck in it behind Samantha Smith, who won the 200 fly and 200 back. Lauren Lee won the 100 free after a runner-up result in the 50. Megan Kramer won the 500 free after finishing second in the 1,000.
On the diving boards, Minh Donnell and Abby Gibbs went 1-2 in both events.
