Junior Pan Pacific Championships Open Wednesday

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado, August 25. MORE than 200 swimmers from nine nations, including 46 Team USA up-and-comers, are set to compete at this week’s 2014 Junior Pan Pacific Championships, which open Wednesday in Maui, Hawaii.
Featuring the teams from the U.S., Australia, Canada, Japan and five additional Pan Pacific nations, the four-day pool competition runs through Saturday at the Kihei Aquatic Center, while the 10-kilometer open water event follows Sunday at Ulua Beach. These venues also served as hosts for the 2005, 2007 and 2010 Junior Pan Pacific Championships.
Prelim pool sessions begin at 9 a.m. locally (3 p.m. EDT), with finals set for 5 p.m. locally (11 p.m. EDT). Complete meet details, including a schedule of events, can be found here.

Among the Team USA standouts slated to compete are the individual high-point scorers from the 2014 Speedo Junior National Championships, Townley Haas of NOVA of Virginia Aquatics and 14-year-old Madison Homovich of North Carolina Aquatic Club. Other U.S. swimmers to watch include Amy Bilquist of Carmel Swim Club, Sierra Schmidt of North Baltimore Aquatic Club, Michael Andrew of Indie Swimming, Curtis Ogren of Palo Alto Stanford Aquatic and Andrew Seliskar of Nation’s Capital Swim Club.
