Scottsdale Aquatic Club’s Mady Bachmeier has verbally committed to Miami University. A rising senior and USA Swimming Scholastic All-American at Cactus Shadows High School in Cave Creek, Az., she will join the RedHawks in Fall 2022.

She will join Caitlin HornBrooke-Lynn Clark and Audrey Conley as a member of the RedHawks’ Class of 2026.

She told Swimming World:

“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic careers at Miami University,” said Bachmeier. “I want to thank my family, friends and coaches for helping me reach this point! GO REDHAWKS!”

In late Summer and Fall 2020, Bachmeier went on a tear competing at the club level and during the high school season. In one of Arizona’s first sanctioned meets post-lockdown, Bachmeier came out of quarantine training to secure Winter Juniors cuts in 100 Back (55.67) and 200 Back (1:59.89) before the start of her junior year at Cactus Shadows.

During club competition in early 2021, she was a three-time finalist at the Speedo Sectionals – Four Corners meet where she notched her third Winter Junior Cut; this time in the 200 Fly with a 2:00.64. Kicking off the long course season, Bachmeier was a three-time finalist at the TYR 18 & Under Spring Cup in Des Moines and came away with best times in four events, securing Future cuts in 100 Fly, 200 Fly and 100 Back.

Her best times include:

  • 100 Back – 55.67
  • 200 Back – 1:59.89
  • 100 Fly – 56.30
  • 200 Fly – 2:00.64
  • 200 IM – 2:03.92
  • 100 Free – 52.20

While competing for Cactus Shadows High School, she gained a state title sweep through the 100 back, 200 IM and both freestyle relays at the 2020 AIA DII Girls State Championship.
