Junior National Qualifier Angelina Rossi Gives Verbal Nod to Purdue

NEW COMMIT: Summer Juniors qualifier Angelina Rossi of Edmond, Okla. has announced her verbal commitment to Purdue University and will suit up for the Boilermakers in the fall of 2020.
A talented breaststroker, Rossi swims year-round with American Energy Swim Club and most recently raced the 100m breast at Junior Nationals this past summer after placing eighth in that event at Jenks Sectionals. Last winter, she earned gold in the 100 breast and silver in the 200 breast at Oklahoma Seniors before going on to race both of those events at Columbia Sectionals. Also competing for Edmond Memorial High School, Rossi raced to fourth in the 100 breast and 13th in the 200 IM at the Oklahoma 6A State Championships during her freshman season.
She told Swimming World:
“I’m thrilled to announce my verbal commitment to Purdue! I can’t wait to continue my academic and athletic career with such a great team, and thank you to everyone who has helped me get to where I am today! Boiler Up!”
Her best times include:
- 50 breast – 30.18
- 100 breast – 1:03.53
- 200 breast – 2:20.32
Rossi will add valuable depth when she arrives in West Lafayette as a member of the class of 2024 and will join a training group that’ll be led by Riley Kishman. Although she’s not in scoring range at the Big Ten Championships just yet, she has made improvements each year and will look to capitalize on her recent long course success throughout the remainder of this short course season.
