NEW COMMIT: The University of Texas has received their second early verbal commitment for the 2022-23 season and beyond from U.S. Open qualifier Chase Davison of Denver, Colo.

She will join Dallas, Texas native Lindsey Hosch as a member of the Longhorns’ Class of 2026.

She told Swimming World:

“It is with so much excitement and joy that I announce my verbal commitment to further my academic and athletic career at the University of Texas!! A very special thank you to my family, coaches and friends for their amazing support through the years. I am beyond excited to be a Longhorn!! HOOK ‘EM !! ??”

A versatile swimmer, Davison does her club swimming with University of Denver Hilltoppers for coach Shawn Smith and earned a best time at the Toyota U.S. Open earlier this month. She finaled in the 200 breast at Juniors West last December and finished 14th in the 100m breast at the TYR Pro Swim Series – Knoxville in January.

In Summer 2019, she registered two best times and a seventh-place finish in the 200m free at Colorado LCM Seniors before going on to finish 15th in the 200m breast at Junior Nationals.

Her best times include:

  • 100 breast – 1:02.40
  • 200 breast – 2:12.11
  • 200 IM – 2:03.41
  • 400 IM – 4:21.37
  • 100 back – 56.92
  • 200 back – 2:03.67
  • 100 free – 51.26
  • 200 free – 1:50.27

Currently a junior at Mullen High School, Davison earned silver in both the 100 breast and 200 free as a sophomore at the Colorado 4A State Championships. She has also earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors for her efforts in the pool and in the classroom.

Davison will make a big impact when she arrives in Austin in the fall of 2021 as her best time in the 200 breast is already fast enough to secure the runner-up spot at the conference level. Under head coach Carol Capitani, the Longhorns won their eighth-straight Big 12 team title in 2020.

The Longhorns are also bringing in an impressive Class of 2025 that includes Erica SullivanRiley CourtneyChanning HanleyAva CollingeJordan MorganMorgan Brophy,  Ellie Andrews and Olivia McMurray.
