NEW COMMIT: Boulder, Colo. native Emma Weber, who is the fastest 100 breaststroker in her class, has verbally committed to the University of Virginia for the fall of 2022.

She will join Sophia Knapp, Izzy Bradley, Claire Tuggle and Zoe Skirboll as a member of the Cavaliers’ class of 2026.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Virginia to further my academic and athletic career! I would like to thank my coaches, family, and friends for getting me to this point! GO HOOS! ??⚔️”

Weber does her club swimming with University of Denver Hilltoppers and owns the Olympic Trials cuts in both the 100m and 200m breast. She was the runner-up in both of those events at Juniors West in December and more recently placed eighth in the 100m breast at the TYR Pro Swim Series in Knoxville.

In summer 2019, she won the 200m breast at Junior Nationals and earned silver in the 100m breast.

Her best times include:

  • 100 breast – 59.74
  • 200 breast – 2:10.39
  • 200 IM – 2:02.30

Currently a junior at Fairview High School, Weber won the 100 breast and placed eighth in the 200 IM at the Colorado 5A State Championships during her freshman year.

Weber is a huge get for the Cavaliers, as she would’ve been their third-fastest 100 breaststroker and would’ve ranked fourth on their lineup in the 200 breast last season. She also would’ve scored in the A-final of both of those events at the 2020 ACC Championships.

Under head coach Todd DeSorbo, Virginia dominated the ACC Championships last season. The Cavaliers placed sixth at the 2019 NCAA Championships and were seeded to win the national title in 2020 before the meet was canceled due the coronavirus pandemic.
