NEW COMMIT: Backstroker Sydney Davids of Lakeville, Minn. has announced her verbal commitment to The Ohio State University as a member of the Buckeyes’ Class of 2026.

She will join Jessica Eden and Sanna Peterson in Columbus at the start of the 2022-23 season.

She told Swimming World:

“I’m really excited about committing to OSU because of the amazing team and coaching staff. The program is amazing and I’m so excited to be a part of it!”

A Junior National qualifier, Davids does her club swimming with Riptide and most recently earned five best times at Minnesota Seniors in March where she was the runner-up in the 200 back. She finished 10th in the 100 back at Juniors West in December and finaled in the 100m back at TYR Pro Swim Series – Des Moines.

Her best times include:

  • 50 back – 25.67
  • 100 back – 54.19
  • 200 back – 2:01.72
  • 100 free – 50.75
  • 200 free – 1:51.78

Currently a junior at Eastview High School, Davids finished fifth in the 100 back at the Minnesota Class AA State Championships during her sophomore season.

Even with just under two years to go before arriving on campus in the fall of 2022, Davids will make a big impact in Ohio State’s backstroke training group. She would’ve placed in the B-final of the 100 back at the 2020 Big Ten Championships where the Buckeyes clinched the team title.
