Julianna Jones will be headed to James Madison University next fall, according to a tweet from Ted Sallade, the head coach of Virginia’s Poseidon Swimming.
Jones is a strong freestyler from the 100 through the 1650. Her top event is a 200, in which she posted a 1:50.85 in 2014. She also adds a 17:28.92 in the 1650 and a 10:21.04 in the 1000. Jones’ best 100 is a 52.12. She has also been under five minutes with a 4:58.68 in the 500.
The Dukes compete in the Colonial Athletic Conference, where Jones has the ability to become a point scorer in her freshman year. At last year’s Championships, it took a 1:51.24 to make the A final of the 200 freestyle. Jones would have snuck into the B final of the 500 freestyle and secured a point in the 16th spot in the mile. She will have one year to train with 500 freestyle conference champion Quinn MacMillan.
Her Poseidon Swimming club teammate Hailey Ladd just announced her verbal commitment to Florida State.
