Jordan Windle Temporarily Suspended by U.S. Center for SafeSport
Diver Jordan Windle, a star performer for the University of Texas and a U.S. Olympian, has been suspended by the U.S. Center for SafeSport. According to the open database on the SafeSport website, Windle was handed a “Temporary Suspension” for “Allegations of Misconduct” on Friday, December 10.
No further details about the purpose for the suspension were given, but Windle was given a “No Contact Directive(s).” It is unclear the length of Windle’s suspension, but with USA Diving set to hold its Winter Nationals this week in Bloomington, he will certainly not be in attendance.
In the meantime, Windle has been also suspended from the University of Texas swimming and diving team, according to a statement from the University of Texas provided to Swimming World.
“We’re aware of the situation with Jordan Windle and are continuing to monitor it closely. We will fully cooperate with all parties involved in this investigation and adhere to NCAA, Big 12 and UT policies and processes as well. We have removed Jordan from all team activities, pending the completion of the investigation. Any further action will be determined at the conclusion of that process.”
Windle, a fifth-year athlete for the Longhorns, was last year’s NCAA champion in 1-meter diving, the national runnerup on 3-meter and the fourth-place finisher on platform, and his points were critical in helping Texas secure a narrow national-championship win over Cal. A few months later, Windle competed for the United States at his first Olympics in Tokyo, where he finished ninth in the platform event.
