Jordan Crooks, Maggie MacNeil Named Swimmers of the Year in All-SEC Awards
Tennessee’s Jordan Crooks and Maggie MacNeil of LSU were named the SEC Swimmers of the Year in the All-SEC Awards, released by the conference on Wednesday.
Florida was the big winner, with four individual awards and 13 All-SEC picks (nine men, four women). Tennessee took home three awards and eight All- SEC spots (six men, two women). LSU contributed eight athletes to the women’s All- SEC squad.
Gators coach Anthony Nesty was named the men’s and women’s swimmer coach of the year after leading both squads to SEC titles. That Gators also have the freshman of the year in both genders, via Josh Liendo and Zoe Dixon.
Tennessee’s diving program joined Crooks in the awards. Bryden Hattie, who joins Crooks and Texas A&M’s Baylor Nelson in sharing the Commissioner’s Trophy for points scored at the SEC Championships, was named SEC diver of the year, with Nick Stone as men’s freshman diver of the year.
In addition to MacNeil, LSU’s Drew Livingston was named the women’s diving coach of the year. South Carolina’s Brooke Schultz is the women’s diver of the year for the fourth time in her career (twice with the Gamecocks and twice at Arkansas). Texas A&M’s Jay Larew is the men’s diving coach of the year, and the Aggies’ Joslyn Oakley was named the top women’s freshman diver.
