John Lohn Discusses New Book, Olympic Trials on Inside With Brett Hawke
In the latest episode of Inside With Brett Hawke, the popular podcast hosted by the two-time Australian Olympian, Swimming World Associate Editor-in-Chief John Lohn joins the show. During the episode, Hawke and Lohn discuss Lohn’s latest book and what might unfold at the upcoming Wave II of the United States Olympic Trials in Omaha.
Lohn’s fifth book, Below the Surface: The History of Competitive Swimming, was recently released by Rowman & Littlefield and highlights the history of the sport. Hawke asks Lohn how he began covering the sport, a tale which includes coming across Brendan Hansen as a high school athlete. They also review a few of the chapters from Lohn’s book, including the decision by the International Olympic Committee to strip Rick DeMont of his gold medal in the 400 freestyle from the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich.
The podcast also offers a free-flowing exchange between Hawke and Lohn about the Olympic Trials and some of the leading storylines in Omaha.
