Jewels Harris has given her verbal commitment to Auburn University. The Alabama native is a butterflyer set to make an immediate scoring impact for the Tigers.
Harris’ best event is the 200 butterfly where she boasts a lifetime best of 1:58.23, swum in December. That time would have finished 12th at the 2016 SEC Championships.
In the 100 butterfly, Harris, who swims for Crimson Tide Aquatics, would finish just outside scoring range as the second alternate with a best time of 53.97. Auburn had five women score in that event, though three of them will have graduated by the time Harris arrives on campus in the fall.
Harris told Swimming World,
“I can’t wait to be a part of that tiger family with an amazing coaching staff and team. There is no other college that represents dedication, hard work, and family the way Auburn does. I believe that Auburn is the place that will help me reach my collegiate goals and full potential in and out of the pool. With the help of all of the coaches as well as my new teammates, I believe that I’ve made the best possible choice. I believe in Auburn and love it!! War Eagle!!”
