Jenna Laukkanen Follows Up Record-Breaking Swim With Finals Win
A day after breaking her Finnish record in the women’s 100-meter breast with a 1:08.55 in semis, Jenna Laukkanen took home the title in 1:08.84 at the Finnish Swimming Championships. Silja Kansakoski took second in 1:09.43 with Veera Kivirinta placing third in 1:10.50.
Janne Markkanen touched out Miro Vasko, 26.83 to 26.88, for the men’s 50-meter back title. Sergei Haukka earned third in 26.92.
Niko Makela won the men’s 50-meter fly in 24.59 with Anton Herrala tying Ari-Pekka Liukkonen for second with matching 24.86s.
Laura Lajunen claimed the women’s 1500-meter free title in 17:08.30 with Aino Otava taking second in 17:23.26. Essi-Maria Lillman picked up third in 17:47.58.
Fanny Teijonsalo won the women’s 200-meter IM in 2:19.21. Carita Luukkanen posted a second-place 2:20.36 with Vaula Vekkeli earning third in 2:22.66.
In semis, Mimosa Jallow led the way in the women’s 50-meter back with a 28.71. Hanna-Maria Seppala qualified second in 29.65 with Lotta Upanne posting a third-seeded 29.96.
Anton Herrala paced the men’s 100-meter free semis in 52.16 with Andrei Tuomola claiming the second seed in 52.19. Miikka Ruohoniemi turned in a 52.30 for the third seed.
Tessa Nurminen hit the wall in 25.62 for the top seed in the women’s 50-meter free. Marlene Niemi (26.02) and Seppala (26.30) qualified second and third.
Nea Norismaa clocked a 1:01.26 for the top seed in the women’s 100-meter fly. Noora Laukkanen took second in 1:01.78 with Sohvi Nenonen posting a third-seeded 1:02.64.
Sami Aaltomaa took home the top seed in the men’s 50-meter breast with a 27.82 with Lassi Ohtonen qualifying second in 28.43. Andrei Tuomala turned in a third-seeded 28.44.
