Farrell had an emergency appendectomy the week before the 1960 Trials, where he was expected to win the 100 freestyle on the way to Olympic gold. The new book, “My Olympic Journey,” is essentially an updated version of “Six Days To Swim” that was published in 1970, and Farrell tells his story now from a first-person point of view. He talks about the idea to write the book and whether he felt emotional reliving such a pivotal period in his life.
