Jada Duncan, Erica Jaffe To Join UCLA’s Class of 2025
NEW COMMITS: UCLA has picked up a pair of in-state verbal commitments for its growing Class of 2029, this time from Jada Duncan of Rocklin, CA and Erica Jaffe of Carmichael, CA.
Both talented swimmers will join Applejean Gwinn as a member of the Bruins’ Class of 2025.
JADA DUNCAN
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I am so eager to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at UCLA! Thanks to the UCLA coaching staff, I am able to call this place my future home. I can’t wait to be a part of this team! 💙💛🐻#GOBRUINS”
Duncan does her club swimming with Wolverine Aquatics and won the 100m fly at Sacramento Futures this past summer after winning that event as well as the 50m free at Roseville Sectionals. She placed 12th in the 50 free and 17th in both the 100 back and 100 fly at Juniors West last December.
Her best times include:
- 100 fly – 53.12
- 100 back – 53.14
- 50 free – 22.71
- 100 free – 50.15
- 200 free – 1:49.74
- 200 back – 2:00.24
Currently a junior at Whitney High School, Duncan won the 50 free and 100 fly at the CIF Sac Joaquin Sectional Championships last season. She took second in the 50 free and first in the 100 back during her freshman season at the section meet.
ERICA JAFFE
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I am thrilled to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at UCLA! I am so grateful for my coaches, family, and friends who have helped me get to this point and for the amazing opportunity from the UCLA coaching staff. I can’t wait to be a part of this team!!”
Jaffee trains year-round with Sierra Marlins Swim Team and raced to fifth place in the 200m back at Junior Nationals this past August. She also had a great showing at Juniors West in December 2022, finishing eighth in the 200 back and 13th in the 100 back.
Her best times include:
- 200 back – 1:56.62
- 100 back – 53.87
- 50 back – 26.18
- 200 IM – 2:01.00
- 200 fly – 1:58.73
- 200 free – 1:49.89
Jaffe is currently a junior at St. Francis Catholic and placed seventh in the 200 IM and ninth in the 100 back at the 2023 CIF State Championships. She took 10th and ninth, respectively, in those events at the state meet during her freshman campaign.
