Jacob Pebley Earns Romantic 200 Backstroke Victory – Video Interview
Jacob Pebley stormed from lane two to dominate the 200 back final at U.S. Nationals in San Antonio. Pebley came in to win in 1:56.66, almost a second and a half ahead of everybody else in the field but short of the 1:56.32 he swam to win the gold medal at World University Games last month, a mark that ranks eighth in the world this year.
After the race, Pebley gave a shout-out to his girlfriend for their second anniversary in an on-deck interview with NBC’s Carolyn Manno. When Pebley reached Swimming World’s David Rieder after receiving his medal, he discussed why he chose to announce to the world about his anniversary and how he bounced back from WUGs to compete in San Antonio. He also explained what a perfect 200 backstroke race would entail for him.
Nice 🙂
