NEW COMMIT: Ashburn, Va. native Jacob Conway has selected to attend Providence College and has given the Friars his verbal commitment beginning in the fall of 2020.

Conway swims year-round with Nation’s Capital Swim Club and capped off his strong summer season by placing 20th in the 200m free at Potomac Valley LCM Seniors. Last winter, he placed seventh in the 200 free and earned five best times at Potomac Valley SCY Seniors before going on to final in the 200 free at Christiansburg Sectionals.

Also competing for Rock Ridge High School, Conway is a four-time Virginia 5A State Championship finalist. He placed eighth in the 200 free and 14th in the 100 free during his junior season.

He told Swimming World:

“I chose Providence College because of the amazing coaching staff, great academics, and welcoming team. On my official visit, I knew it was the place for me because of how inviting the students and coaches were. I’m really excited to spend the next four years swimming at Providence under Coach O’Neill and Coach Howe while pursue a degree in biochemistry. Go Friars!”

His best times include:

  • 100 free – 48.14
  • 200 free – 1:44.04
  • 500 free – 4:51.62
  • 200 IM – 1:58.72

When he arrives on campus as a member of the class of 2024, Conway will add his talents to a training group that’ll be led by Jack ArmstrongAndrew Ferrell, and Sia Mirzazadeh. He has consistently made improvements each season and will surely carry his recent long course success over into this short course season.
