Jackson Brown, Andrew Garner Verbally Commit to Minnesota’s Class of 2025
NEW COMMITS: The University of Minnesota has recently received a pair of verbal commitments for the 2021-22 season and beyond from Maple Grove, Minn. native Jackson Brown and Andrew Garner of Naples, Fla.
They will both suit up for the Golden Gophers along with Nathan Griffin as members of the class of 2025.
JACKSON BROWN
A talented freestyler, Brown swims year-round with Aquajets Swim Team and earned a best time at Minneapolis Sectionals this past summer before going on to earn bronze in the 400m free at Minnesota LCM Seniors. Last short course season, he raced four events at NCSAs and earned two best times. A current junior at Maple Grove Senior High School, he raced the 200/500 free combo at Minnesota 2A State Championships during his freshman season.
Regarding his commitment, he said:
“I chose Minnesota because of the amazing coaching staff, academics, team environment, and tradition of success. Thank you to all the friends, family, and coaches who helped me along the way. GO GOPHERS”
His best times include:
- 200 free – 1:41.41
- 500 free – 4:31.20
- 200 IM – 1:54.51
ANDREW GARNER
Primarily a breaststroker and IMer, Garner does his club swimming with T2 Aquatics and owns five Junior National standards. At Juniors East last month, he earned 100% best times and placed 13th in the 200 breast after finishing fifth in both the 200m breast and 200m IM at Greensboro Futures last summer. Also competing for Barron Collier High School, Garner earned silvers in the 100 breast and 100 free as a junior while placing third and sixth, respectively, in those events as a sophomore.
Regarding his commitment, he said:
“I am proud to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Minnesota to continue my academic and swimming careers. I chose Minnesota because of the amazing team culture, coaching staff, and outstanding academics. Thank you to my family, coaches, and teammates for all of their support. GO GOPHERS!”
His best times include:
- 100 breast – 55.41
- 200 breast – 1:59.74
- 200 IM – 1:49.72
- 400 IM – 3:54.34
