Jack Conger, Luis Martinez, Giles Smith, Alex Perreault, Roman Rybin, Tripp Cooper, Marius Kusch, Marcus Schlesinger and Jorge Iga started things off in tonight’s Men’s 50 Fly Prelims.
In this round, Conger reclaimed his top seed in 23.91. He was followed by Martinez (23.93), Smith (24.03) and Perreault (24.04).
Rybin (24.30), Cooper (24.31), Kusch (24.32), Schlesinger (24.42) and Iga (24.75) placed fifth through ninth.
Minutes later, Conger powered his way to a semifinals win in 23.89, lowering his time even further. Martinez posted a time of 24.08 to warn the last spot in the finals. Perreault was third in 24.52 while Smith was fourth in 25.15.
Once again, Conger came out on top, lowering his time to win the race in 23.67. He took the lead right from the start to get the win over Martinez (24.16).
