Italy’s Fioravanti, Double Olympic Champion, Retires

ROME, February 6. ITALY's Domenico Fioravanti, 27, a double gold medalist at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney will announce his retirement next Monday, according to Insweep.com.
The official announcement will be made from the headquarters of his team, Circolo Canottieri Aniene, in Rome.
In Sydney, the dark horse Italian breaststroker, confounded the experts by becoming the first man to win both the 100 and 200 meter breaststroke at the Same Olympics. But in the next few years he aws unable to regain his championship form.
Last year the medical staff of the Italian Swimming Federation discovered a heart abnormality and prohibited him from competing.
