ISCA Hall of Fame Class Inducted on Saturday Night; Jack Bauerle, Sid Cassidy, Dick Shoulberg Honored (Video Tributes)

The International Swim Coaches Association (ISCA) is inducting three premier names in the history of the sport tonight at the Crowne Plaze Hotel in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania.

Dick Shoulberg, Sid Cassidy and Jack Bauerle make up the Class of 2024.

The induction ceremony is taking place as part of the 47th annual Eastern States Clinic.

Jack Bauerle, ISCA Hall of Fame Class of 2024

Bauerle led the Georgia Bulldogs to six NCAA championships during his career. He was named NCAA Coach of the Year five times and SEC Coach of the Year 12 times in his 42 years as women’s head coach and 35 years as men’s head coach at Georgia.

He coached nearly 300 All-Americans and multiple Olympians during his illustrious career and always had an influence on Team USA rosters for international competitions. He was on the U.S. Olympic staff in 2000, 2008 and 2021.

Sid Cassidy, ISCA Hall of Fame Class of 2024

Cassidy was one of the top coaches in open water. In 1983, he started to serve as a coach and administrator for open water swimming for USA Swimming.

In 1996, he became a member of FINA’s Technical Open Water Swimming Committee where he represented USA Swimming. He was a key player in bringing Olympic marathon swimming to fruition. During the 2008 Olympics, the first 10K Olympic Marathon Swim occurred under his direction.

Cassidy has also enjoyed a prestigious collegiate head coaching career. He was the head coach at James Madison University and the University of Miami. During his collegiate endeavors, he worked with over 30 All-American swimmers.

Dick Shoulberg, ISCA Hall of Fame Class of 2024

Shoulberg was a former U.S. Olympic coach and Army veteran. He coached at Pennsylvania’s Germantown Academy from 1969-2015, developing the high school and club programs into national powers. Along the way, he led the boys team to a pair of national championships and the girls team to five national titles.

Shoulberg had a significant influence on Team USA rosters and coached numerous Olympians. Among those competing for Team USA in international competition were Fran Crippen, Maddy Crippen, David Berkoff, Dan Jorgensen, Sean Killi0n and Dave Wharton. Shoulberg also influenced several of his athletes to enter the coaching ranks.
