Irvine Novaquatics’ Ryan Abdollahi Will Stay In State, Sends Verbal to USC Trojans
NEW COMMIT: The University of Southern California has received a new in-state verbal commitment for the fall of 2020 from Dana Point, Calif. native Ryan Abdollahi.
Abdollahi, who does his club swimming with Irvine Novaquatics, owns four U.S. Open standards and most recently recorded a pair of best times at Junior Nationals this past summer. Last winter, he notched 100% lifetime bests at Juniors West where he finished 14th in the 400 IM and placed 12th in that event at the Speedo Grand Challenge in May.
Also competing for Dana Hills High School, Abdollahi is a five-time CIF Southern DI Sectional Championship finalist. The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American placed third in the 200 IM and sixth in the 100 breast as a junior after taking 10th in the 200 IM and 15th in the 500 free during his sophomore season.
He told Swimming World:

His best times include:
- 200 IM – 1:49.12
- 400 IM – 3:54.93
- 500 free – 4:29.91
- 200 breast – 2:03.57
- 100 fly – 51.01
- 200 fly – 1:53.67
When he suits up for the Trojans as a member of the class of 2024, Abdollahi will have one year of overlap with Alexei Sancov. He’ll also join Ben Dillard, Holden Raffin, Danny Skyrkin, Scott Sobolewski and Hugh Svendsen next fall in Los Angeles.
