NEW YORK, NY – The latest round of positive drug tests by Chinese swimmers jeopardizes their country’s chance to host the 2008 Olympic Games, International Olympic Committee President Juan Antonio Samaranch said. Hours after four swimmers were suspended from the World Championships in Perth, Australia, Samaranch said any Chinese bid for the 2008 Games might be ”in trouble.” The IOC chief did not endorse banning China from participation, but for the first time linked the country’s drug violations to its bid to host the Olympics.
