INDUSTRY NEWS: Six US Olympic Stars Sign On With Penta Water
CARLSBAD, Calif., November 16, 2004. U.S. OLYMPIC gold medal-winning swimmers know water, in and out of the pool.
Three-time medalist Amanda Beard (gold and 2 silvers in 2004), Kaitlin Sandeno (gold, silver and bronze) and Aaron Peirsol (triple gold medalist), along with gold medalists and world record-holder Jason Lezak, recently inked an endorsement deal with Penta bottled water, manufactured by Carlsbad, California-based Bio-Hydration Research Lab, Inc.
Also signed were Olympians Scott Goldblatt and Gabe Woodward. Goldblatt was a silver medalist in the 800 free relay in Sydney in 2000 and a gold medalist in the same event in Athens in 2004. Woodward won bronze as a member of the USA 400 free relay team in Athens.
These six 2004 U.S. Olympic Swim Team members won a total of 12 medals (seven gold, three silver, and two bronze) at the 2004 Games in Athens, and were part of one of the most decorated swim teams in U.S. history.
“Penta has been an important part of my daily routine for a couple of years,” said Beard, who won a gold and two silver medals in Athens. “I’ve tried practically every water out there, and in my opinion Penta — with its incredible purity and unbelievable great taste — is the world champion of bottled waters.”
Added Peirsol, winner of three gold medals in Athens, “For me, hydrating with quality water is one of the most important things I pay attention to. I started drinking Penta when I was at the 2004 Swim Trials in Long Beach, and I immediately noticed a difference in my hydration and my performance level. By drinking Penta before and after my races, it gave me the extra little edge in my races, and that edge carried over to the 2004 Games in Athens. Certainly Penta will help me prepare for the 2008 Games in Beijing.”
Evan Morgenstein, the agent for four of the swimmers and president of Premier Management Group, said, “Being a champion is more than just working out and swimming laps. Having the best water is one of the most important aspects of a swimmer's training. Just because they’re in a pool for hours doesn’t mean they’re hydrated. Penta water was the choice of all four of my clients even before we signed an endorsement deal.”
“We know water, and these swimmers know water. I can’t think of a more perfect group of people to have on our Penta team,” said Penta inventor and CEO William D. Holloway.
