Indiana Swimming Sweeps Michigan on Senior Day Behind Anna Peplowski’s Trio of Wins, Including Top Time in Country in 200 Free

The Indiana men’s and women’s swimming and diving team swept Michigan in a Big Ten showdown.

The Hoosiers won the men’s meet 176-118 and the women’s meet 160-103 behind three wins from Olympian Anna Peplowski.

The women’s meet was delayed by an unknown injury finished without the final two women’s events.

Indiana opened the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay. Kacey McKenna, Kabria Chapman, Miranda Grana and Kristina Paegle got to the wall in 1:35.47, ahead of the Wolverines (1:36.57).

Paegle won the 50 free in 21.87 just ahead of Michigan’s Lindsay Flynn (21.89).

Grana won the 100 backstroke in 51.29 and 100 fly in 51.73.

Anna Pepolowski won the 200 free in a nation-leading 1:41.63, ahead of Michigan’s Stephanie Balduccini (1:43.65). Peplowski won the 100 free (47.68) ahead of Flynn (47.83), Balduccini (48.05) and Paegle (48.47). Peplowski won the 500 free in 4:38.56.

Indiana’s Brearna Crawford won the 100 breaststroke in 1:00.44 and the 200 breast in 2:11.31 just head of Michigan’s Letitia Sim (2:11.77). Mya DeWitt won the 200 back (1:53.35).

Lily Witte won 1-meter diving with 315.30 points, just ahead of Michigan’s Kiarra Milligan (313.05). Ella Roselli won 3-meter (346.43) ahead of Witte (342.53).

Michigan’s Rebecca Diaconescu won the 1000 freestyle in 9:32.96. Hannah Bellard won the 200 butterfly (1:55.31).

In the men’s meet, Indiana started strong with a win in the 200 medley relay. Miroslav Kneidla, Brian Benzing, Tomer Frankel and Matt King won in 1:22.64.

Benzing won the 100 breast in 51.45, holding off teammates Caspar Corbeau (51.49) and Josh Matheny (52.31). King won the 50 free in 19.29. Corbeau won the 200 breast in 1:51.65.

Owen McDonald won the 100 back in 45.00 ahead of Knedla (45.63) and the 200 IM (1:42.63).

Zalan Sarkany won the 1000 free in 8:43.80 and 500 free in 4:13.75. Rafael Miroslaw won the 200 free in 1:31.94.

Indiana’s Quinn Henniger won 1-meter diving with 436.05 points and 3-meter (428.10).

Miroslaw, Corbeau, Vidar Carlbaum and Mikkel Lee won the 400 free relay in 2:50.24.

Michigan’s Colin Geer won the 200 fly in a 1-2 finish. He won in 1:42.31 just ahead of teammate Tyler Ray (1:42.36).

Indiana’s Finn Brooks won the 100 fly (45.69) ahead of Ray (45.78).
