Indiana State Champ Henry Lyness Chooses Arizona State For 2026
NEW COMMIT: Arizona State University has secured its first public verbal commitment on the men’s side for the Class of 2026 from Junior National qualifier Henry Lyness of Greenwood, Indiana.
Regarding his commitment, he said:
“I am excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Arizona State University. I am thankful for this opportunity and for my friends, family and coaches for helping me throughout my journey. Forks up!”
A backstroker, Lyness trains year-round with Center Grove Aquatic Club. He capped off his long course season by placing 16th in the 100m back at Speedo Summer Championships.
Last December, he placed 14th in the 100 back at Juniors East. Lyness also earned bronze in the 100m back at Indianapolis Sectionals in March.
His best times include:
- 100 back – 48.06
- 200 back – 1:48.21
- 100 fly – 49.83
- 100 free – 46.67
- 50 free – 21.48
Currently a junior at Center Grove High School, Lyness won the 100 back and took sixth in the 100 fly at the 2024 Indiana State Championships. He finished ninth in the 100 back at the state meet during his freshman season.
