Indiana, Ohio State Sweep Big Ten Weekly Honors

Indiana and Ohio State divided up the six Big Ten Weekly Honors, announced by the conference on Wednesday.

The Hoosiers swept the women’s accolades, with Noelle Peplowski as the swimmer of the week and Kristina Paegle as freshman of the week. Indiana produced both divers of the week, Anne Fowler on the women’s side and Andrew Capobianco on the men’s. Ohio State picked up the remaining two men’s nods, with men’s swimmer of the week Alex Quach and leading freshman Sam Campbell.

Big Ten Swimming

Peplowski, a senior, earned her third career Swimmer of the Week honor with three individual wins in a victory over Michigan, the Hoosiers’ first in a decade. She won the 100 breaststroke, 200 breast and 200 individual medley. Peplowski also took part in the winning 200 medley relay.

Fowler swept the diving events against Michigan, scoring 304.13 on 1-meter and 241.70 on 3-meter. It’s the third career Diver of the Week honor for the junior.

Paegle is the conference’s top freshman for the third time in her stellar rookie campaign. Against the Wolverines, she won the 50 freestyle and 100 free. She added the anchor leg on the winning 200 medley relay and also brought home the Hoosiers’ win in the 400 free relay.

Capobianco celebrated senior day in Bloomington with his sixth career Diver of the Week honors. The fifth-year handily claimed the two diving events, scoring 427.65 on 3-meter and 412.94 on 1-meter.

Quach was at the forefront of Ohio State scoring triumphs over Texas and Alabama in a tri-meet. The sophomore from Australia won the 100 IM, 100 backstroke and 100 butterfly. He also swam on four winning relays.

Campbell likewise starred for the 13th-ranked Buckeyes. He finished seventh in a deep 1,000 free.
