Indiana Grabs 2025 Verbal From Puerto Rican National Age Group Record Holder Luci Gutierrez
NEW COMMIT: Indiana University has received a new verbal commitment for the 2025-26 season and beyond from Junior National qualifier Luci Gutierrez of Eastchester, New York.
Gutierrez holds the Puerto Rico national records for 15-16 girls in the 200m, 400m and 800m free as well as the 200m back.
She told Swimming World:
“I am extremely blessed to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and swimming career, swimming Division 1 at Indiana University ! I would like to thank my family, friends, and coaches who helped me get to this point ! GO HOOSIERS!”
Gutierrez does her club swimming with Westchester Aquatic Club. She was the 2023 Richmond Futures champion in the 400m and 800m free this past summer.
Her best times include:
- 100 free – 51.20
- 200 Free – 149.40
- 500 Free – 453.53
- 1000 Free – 958.50
- 100 Back – 56.70
- 200 Back – 201.73
Currently a junior at Eastchester High School, Gutierrez finished eighth in the 200 free and 12th in the 100 fly at the 2022 New York Federation Championships. She recently won both the 200 free and 500 free at the NYPHSAA Section 1 Championships.
She holds four team records in the 50 free, 200 free, 500 free and 100 fly. In addition, she and her teammates were New York State Section 1 High School Champions in 2022.
