NEW COMMIT: Jakub Karl will be swimming for Indiana University beginning in September. Karl is from the Czech Republic, and has been swimming for Hamilton Aquatics in Dubai for the last nine years. He is coached by Ash Morris

Kabul is primarily a freestyler, but is strong in butterfly as well. His best times are:

  • 100 Free 50.8, 49.1 (LCM, SCM)
  • 200 Free 1:50.5, 1:46.0 (LCM, SCM)
  • 400 Free 3:46.7 (SCM)

In short course yards those times convert to (depending on LCM or SCM conversion):

  • 100 Free 43.71-44.11
  • 200 Free 1:36.29-1:35.66
  • 500 Free 4:12.06

At the BIG Ten Championships this February, it took a 43.59 to make the B final and a 44.09 to make the C final in the 100 free. In the 200 free a 1:35.46 was eighth out of prelims, a 1:36.59 earned a spot in the B final, while a 1:37.17 was good for a spot in the C final. Depending on how Kabul makes the transition to training and racing short course yards, Ray Looze and co. should expect him to be in scoring range at the Conference Championship next year.
