From Reuter’s News Service and AOL: Tamas Gyarfas, the Hungarian offical who quit his post two weeks ago following allegations of phony qualification times posted by the Hungarian Olympic team, was re-elected head of the Hungarian Swimming Federation (HSF). He said frauds such as the “phantom” qualifying meet over which he resigned would not be repeated.
“I will personally see that such things never happen again,” Gyarfas told Reuters after he was elected president of the HSF on Saturday by 65 votes to two.
HSF general secretary Jozsef Ruza, who later admitted sending the counterfeit qualifying sheets, was also re-elected to his post on Saturday.
Both Gyarfas and Ruza will apparently return to their posts.
