Hudson Explorer’s Paige McCormick Sends 2020 Verbal to Louisville
NEW COMMIT: Hudson, Ohio native and high school junior Paige McCormick has announced her verbal commitment to the University of Louisville and will join the Cards as a member of the class of 2024.
McCormick does her club swimming with Hudson Explorer Aquatic and owns six Winter Juniors (or faster) standards, including three U.S. Open cuts. She placed tenth in the 400 IM and 22nd in the 200 back at Juniors East last month and won the 200 free at the Ohio Winter Championships. She finished sixth in the 200m IM and seventh in the 400m IM at Junior Nationals this past summer after winning the latter event at Spire Speedo Sectionals. She was a five-time finalist at NCSAs and won a pair of events at Lake Erie Seniors last March.
Also competing for Hudson High School, McCormick is a four-time Ohio State Championship finalist. She took third in the 500 free and fourth in the 200 IM as a sophomore after placing third and seventh, respectively, in those events during her freshman season. She has also earned NISCA and USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors during her career thus far.
She told Swimming World:
“Beyond excited and honored to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Louisville!!! Thank you to my family, coaches, and friends for supporting me throughout this whole process. I can’t wait to be apart of the Louisville family! The combination of team culture and academics creates a environment for me where I can see myself succeeding. In addition all the support systems available for the athletes including the amazing coaches can allow me to reach my potential.”
Her best times include:
- 500 free – 4:51.93
- 1000 free – 9:56.07
- 200 back – 1:59.36
- 200 breast – 2:18.28
- 200 IM – 2:01.95
- 400 IM – 4:15.35
Even with 1.5 years of club swimming still to go before arriving on campus, McCormick would’ve scored in the B-final of the 400 IM and the C-final of the 500 free at the 2018 ACC Championships where Louisville took second overall in the team standings. She will join the Cardinals’ class of 2024 along with Gabi Albiero and Tristen Ulett.
