Liberty Howell and Chicago Wolfpack Continue Winning at Day Two of Lewisville Futures

Day two of the Lewisville Futures Championship closed with the Chicago Wolfpack Aquatic Club taking charge, placing four times.
The second day of the meet began much like the first one, with Swim Tulsa’s Liberty Howell taking first. This time in the women’s 200 freestyle with a time of 2:04.18. In second was Kaitlynn Wheeler of Springfield YMCA Swim Team with a time of 2:04.46. Placing for the second time this meet, Cypress Fairbanks’ Carson Kaufmann finished third with a time of 2:05.41.
The men’s 200 freestyle was dominated by the Chicago Wolfpack Aquatic Club. Teammates Jacob Furlong and Reilly Shields took the top two positions with times of 1:52.45 and 1:52.83 respectively. Stuart Hohm of the Springfield YMCA Swim Team returned to the podium, receiving third for his time of 1:54.35.
Holly Winer of Ames Cyclone Aquatic Club made her debut Futures debut this year by placing first in the women’s 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:13.22. Great Wolf Swim Team’s Reese Dehen took second with a time of 1:14.30, barely beating out Hannah Liu of the Patriot Aquatic Club who finished with a time of 1:14.32.
The closest race of the night was the men’s 100 breaststroke which saw only a .07 second split between first place, Harrison Fudge of the Bloomington Normal Swim Club who finished in 1:05.42, and second place, Forrest Frazier of the Iowa Flyers Swim Club who finished in 1:05.48. Finishing just .02 seconds after Frazier was Connor Funke of Greater Omaha Aquatics with a time of 1:05.50.
Berit Quass of the Dowling Catholic Riptide took first in the women’s 100 butterfly with a time of 1:01.96. The Dallas Mustangs’ Rebecca Brandt took second with a 1:03.12. Anna Peterson returned the Chicago Wolfpack to the podium with a time of 1:03.24.
Ezra Mizgala kept the Chicago Wolfpack on the podium in the men’s 100 butterfly with his time of 56.10. Behind him was Luke Davis of the American Energy Swim Club with a time of 56.38. In third was Dalton Lowe of the Spring Swim Team with a time of 56.70
The women’s 400 IM was finished in 5:00.01 by Berkeley Livingston of Lincoln Select Swimming. Followed by Maggie Emary of Barrington Swim with a time of 5:01.45. In third was Highland Ranch Aquatics’ Patricia Van Law with a time of 5:03.50.
The men’s 400 IM ended the day with Matthew Hedman of the Edina Swim Club, finishing in 4:32.05, beating out Adam Grimm of the Rec Plex Sharks Swim Team after taking second to him in the 1500 free yesterday. Grimm finished with a time of 4:35.87. In third was Aquajets Swim Teams’ Hayden Zheng with 4:40.75.
