With one week to go until the closing of the registration period for the International Swimming League (ISL) Draft, the world’s best swimmers continue to sign up to the selection process for ISL clubs that will take place ahead of Season 3, which will take place in Naples, Italy from August 26 – September 30.

ISL Season 1 MVP Sarah Sjöström of Sweden, Katinka Hosszu (HUN), Florent Manaudou (FRA) and Chad le Clos (RSA) are among the latest star names who have registered for the ISL Draft.

They are joined by Australian female swimmers Emma McKeon – third in ISL Season 1 MVP scoring, Bronte and Cate Campbell, Canadian female swimmers Kylie Masse and Kayla Sanchez, along with Kathleen Baker (USA) and Alia Atkinson (JAM).

Prominent male swimmers now registered include Kliment Kolesnikov – fresh from setting two world records in the 50m backstroke last week – and Vladimir Morozov of Russia, Daiya Seto (JPN), Nicholas Santos (BRA), Duncan Scott (GBR), Mitch Larkin (AUS), Kristof Milak (HUN) and Emre Sakci (TUR).

The three highest MVP scorers from Season 2 are also already registered for season three: Caeleb Dressel, Lilly King and Beryl Gastaldello.

ISL Founder Konstantin Grigorishin welcomed the latest raft of swimmers to register for the draft selection process while emphasizing that swimmers will miss out on competing in ISL Season 3 if they do not register for the ISL Draft by the 31st May deadline.

‘’I am very pleased to see that the large majority of our star swimmers from the first two seasons have committed to participating in ISL Season 3 through registering for the ISL Draft,’’ said Grigorishin. ‘’I call upon all swimmers not yet signed up that they now have less than one week to follow the lead of their peers. I cannot emphasize enough that this is the last call for swimmers – If they are not registered by 31st May they will not be able compete in ISL Season 3.’’

The ISL Draft is scheduled to take place during the week of 28 June 2021.

The ISL Draft has been designed to fundamentally change the 10 ISL clubs’ athlete selection process, enhancing the competitive parity among the teams vying for the Season 3 title.

Clubs will be given the opportunity to retain a maximum of 15 swimmers from Season 2, along with an additional swimmer maintained via an online fan vote, before the teams can select 11 additional swimmers from the ISL Draft Pool. General Managers will complete their teams’ rosters, selecting from the remaining swimmers in the ISL Draft Pool only, for a maximum of 36 swimmers on their respective rosters.
