Hoosiers Keep IHSAA 100 Breast Champion MacKenna Lieske In State for 2022-23 Season
NEW COMMIT: Indiana University has kept in-state breaststroker and IMer MacKenna Lieske of Carmel, Ind. in-state for her college career, as she will arrive in Bloomington as part of their Class of 2026.
She will join the Hoosiers along with Lily Hann, Cat Watrous, Chiok Sze Yeo, Kristina Paegle, Avery Spade, Gracie Olsen and Mya DeWitt at the start of the 2022-23 season.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to Indiana University and continue my academic and athletic careers!! I want to thank my parents, coaches, and teammates that have helped me get to this moment, I truly couldn’t have done it without all of the support. I cannot wait to be a Hoosier!!!⚪️?”
Lieske trains year-round with Carmel Swim Club and most recently picked up seven new best times at Indianapolis Sectionals last month. She also recorded a trio of top-10 finishes at the Speedo Music City Invitational in December 2019.
Her best times include:
- 200 IM – 2:00.65
- 100 breast – 1:02.13
- 200 breast – 2:20.37
- 100 back – 57.21
- 100 fly – 56.86
Currently a junior at the legendary Carmel High School, Lieske is a six-time Indiana State Championship finalist. She won the 100 breast and secured bronze in the 200 IM in 2021 while taking third and second, respectively, in those events during her sophomore season.
The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American helped her team clinch their 35th-straight team title in 2021, scoring the most points in state history.
Under head coach Ray Looze, the Hoosiers finished third overall in the team standings at the 2021 Big Ten Championships.
