Heidi Lowe Becomes UNC’s Second SwimMAC Verbal Commit in Class of 2022

NEW COMMIT: SwimMAC Carolina will now send at least two members of its class of 2018 to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Heidi Lowe has given her verbal commitment to the Tarheels. She joins club teammate Sophie Linder and other in-state swimmer Grace Countie in Chapel Hill’s Class of 2022.

Lowe is a backstroker and freestyler. Her top times are:

  • 50 Back 26.74
  • 100 Back 55.40
  • 200 Back 1:58.49
  • 50 Free 23.58
  • 100 Free 50.12
  • 200 Free 1:48.57

The senior at Hough High School finished second in the 200 freestyle (1:48.57) at the 2017 North Carolina 4A High School state championships. She also earned silver in the 100 freestyle (50.89). Countie earned gold. Lowe was also key to two relays. She anchored the team’s third place 200 freestyle relay in 23.48 and brought home the runner up 400 freestyle relay with a 50.97.

In ACC competition Lowe and Linder will see SwimMAC teammate Curtis Wiltseywho is headed to NC State. The team’s Will Chan has also already made a verbal commitment.
