NEW COMMIT: McKenzee Gordon of Scottsdale Aquatic Club has given her verbal commitment to swim for the University of Hawaii beginning with the 2018-2019 season.

A distance swimmer, her top times are:

  • 1650 Free 16:22.66
  • 1000 Free 9:47.78
  • 500 Free 4:50.28
  • 200 Free 1:50.01
  • 100 Free 52.52

Gordon is a senior at Hamilton High School where she is a NISCA All-American. Swimming for the school at last fall’s Arizona Division 1 High School state championships, Gordon touched second in the 200 freestyle in her lifetime best time. She also won the 500 freestyle in 4:52.73, three seconds ahead of second place. At Speedo Sectionals in Federal Way this spring Gordon won the 1000, finished fourth in the 500 free, and seventh in the 200 free.

At the 2017 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships, Gordon would have been a significant scorer for Hawaii. Her best 1650 freestyle time would have finished second, behind only Hawaii freshman Phoebe Hines (16:20.89), with whom Gordon will have two years to train. Her top 500 freestyle time would have finished third at last year’s meet. Hines was second. Despite its short nature given Gordon’s distance specialty, she still would have been sixth in the 200 freestyle. In fourth place from Hawaii was Silvja Djelic. She’ll be a senior when Gordon moves west.
