Hannah Russell Wins 2nd Event at British Para-Swimming International

There were no new World Records on day two of the British Para-Swimming International meet, but two British records did fall.

Hannah Russell won the women’s 100 backstroke in the S12 classification, with a 1:07.07. Russell won yesterday’s 100 freestyleBethany Firth swam a 1:05.65 and Jessica-Jane Applegate posted a 1:07.79, in the S14 classification, to finish second and third. Sixth place finisher Abby Kane set an S13 British record with a 1:11.19.

In the men’s 100 backstroke Jonathan Fox posted a 1:10.22 to win the event in the S7 classification. Second place went to Oliver Hynd with a 1:05.27 in the S8 classification. James Crisp earned third in 1:04.24 in the S9 classification. Fourth place finisher Stephen Clegg set the S12 British record, stopping the clock at 1:02.25.

In the women’s 50 backstroke, Suzanne Warren won the event in 1:05.98, under the S4 classification. Second place went to Sophie Woodward in 1:12.01. Kayleigh Haggo earned third in 1:06.70.
